New Tower of Babel Being Built?

The Burj Dubai, the world’s tallest skyscraper, opened on March 31, 2008, renamed as the Burj Khalifa, an impressive 828 meters, or 2717 feet, tall. While not a mile high, as initially speculated, the new tower is still 320 meters taller than the next tallest skyscraper, the Taipei 101 tower. and we thought the Freedom Tower was going to be tall . . .
mile-high-tower1.jpgIt is always fun to preview cool architectural achievements around the world! We’ve covered everything from the world’s smallest apartment to the coolest architectural projects in the middle east (includes the then proposed-tallest building in the world) to the world’s largest building (proposed in Moscow – slated to dwarf the Pentagon).
Once again, we’ve learned of a building that is slated to make the competition cry tears of inadequacy . . .
The Daily Mail reported that Saudi Prince al-Walid bin Talal, one of the richest men on Earth, has unveiled plans to build a tower that will be 1 mile tall (5,280 feet) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – dubbed the Kingdom Tower.

This building, expected to cost £5billion ($10 billion US), if completed, will be more than twice as tall as any planned or completed skyscraper on Earth . . . talk about ambitious!

“Experts say the technical challenges are enormous. Much of the lifting will be carried out by helicopters, which will also be used as commuter transport for builders. The tower will have to be capable of withstanding a wide range of temperatures, with its top baking in the desert sun by day but dropping to well below freezing at night. To resist the strong winds prevalent in the area and stop it swaying, giving its occupants a form of high-rise seasickness, it will be fitted with a giant computer-operated damper. “

Dramamine, anyone?

The Concept

In looking into the concept a bit more, I discovered some insight from SkyScraperPage.com: “Exploring urban issues facing 21st century, The Mile High Tower offers a fresh perspective on an idea that has been debated by architects for a century”1 mile =1600 M . Exploding land values, growing populations and expanding economies are placing extraordinary burdens on many culturally rich, but land deprived Asian regions. In response to these pressures we have proposed a vertical city. In conceiving the tower as a vertical city, the design team has integrated technological, architectural and urban planning strategies into a single structure that breathes with urban complexity. The scale of the building and the scope of the program force the reevaluation of current skyscraper precedents for form, purpose, infrastructure, transportation, structure, and sustainability.”
Pay close attention to the rendering below. To the right of the tower stands a scale size Petronas Towers, one of the current leaders in tall construction . . . Petronas is dwarfed by the Saudi model!

This is what Wikipedia has to say about Kingdom Tower AkA Mile High Tower:

"The Mile-High Tower (Arabic: برج الميل‎‎), also named Kingdom Tower, is a skyscraper proposed for construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At 1 mile (1,600 m; 5,280 ft) tall, it would be the tallest building built to date.[1][2] The tower will have conference halls and retail facilities at the top besides a five-star hotel, offices and deluxe residential units.[3] The US$17 billion project, the centerpiece of a planned community near the coast, is being proposed by Al-Waleed bin Talal’s Riyadh-based Kingdom Holding Company.[4] The city to be constructed around the Mile-High Tower will extend over an area of 23 million square metres (total investment US$26.6 billion). The city will have the capacity to accommodate 80,000 people in addition to shopping and entertainment facilities.[5]
According to older plans, the Mile High Tower's architect will be Omrania and Associates, in collaboration with U.S. company Pickard Chilton. Newer reports from 2010 say Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture are selected to design the tower.[3] Adrian Smith designed Burj Khalifa when he was working for Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Gulf News said. The development of the tower is being managed by Emaar Properties PJSC.[6] UK firm Hyder Consulting have been selected as engineering consultants for the project, in conjunction with Arup.[4] The tower could be constructed by Bechtel, though Bechtel's continued involvement has been questioned.[7]
In May 2008, after soil testing in the area cast doubt over whether the proposed location could support a skyscraper of significant height, MEED reported that the project has been scaled back, making it "up to 500 meters shorter".[8]
Reports in 2009 suggested[9] that the project had been put on hold due to the global economic crisis and that Bechtel was "in the process of ending its involvement with the project".[7] Kingdom Holdings Company quickly criticised the news reports, insisting that the project has not been shelved.[10]
In March 2010, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture were selected as architects.[11]
In October 2010 the go ahead was finally given.[12] Kingdom Holding said construction is progressing.[3]"

Ok, all that above was from various websites and now here is my say.  Could this be the new Tower of Babel that the bible speaks of that could be built again ?  Is this really what time bible speaks of as part of the end times?  It does say that the tower will be rebuilt and the whole world would wonder at the beast.  I'm not using direct quotes but it's crazy how this can be happening.
Let me know what you think about all of this  comment, lets start a debate :)

How Ironic...

I seen these and thought they were pretty funny.  If you know where I can find more of these let me know. :)

End of the World?

So, I was thinking last night about how some Christians are saying that Jesus is going to come back on May 21, 2011.  It's interesting  how this  Harold Camping can say this when it strictly says in the Bible that no man knows the date that Jesus will come....Not even the angels in heaven know the time of his return...However...Harold Camping must be in on the secret because he is claiming that he knows the exact date of the end of the world.  Mystifying.  You can check out the article here and here

Then there are the ones that say that the world will end on December 21, 2012.  The Mayans started this rumor long ago with a tablet that they carved depicting the dates and the last date on the calendar just so happens to be 12-21-12.  Some have speculation as to how the world will end on this date and some say that a planet with a long orbit will just so happen to be in a perfect alignment that it will smack earth head on on this date.  Interesting enough.  Hard to prove.  And it sounds like it could happen.  Did you know that during the 2000 to 2009 period, there were 385 disasters, an increase of 233% since 1980 to 1989, and of 67% since 1990 to 1999, according to CRED data.  That's insane.  They say that the climate is causing all these catastrophes.  There are all kinds of websites out there that tell us what we can do to change it but the real issue is this planet that is going to give the earth a galactic high five.  It doesn't matter if you dig holes or put ten tons of food up for storage because if this so called planet DOES hit the earth you might as well just say your prayers because like as we know it on earth will be changed for the next few million years.

I said all that to say this.  What do you think is going to happen?  How do you think that the world is going to end?  Do you think that Jesus is going to be coming back in just over 60 days?  Or do you thin that we are going to get smashed by a giant planet?  The real question out there, How do you think that the world is going to end?  Let me know...Post your Comments.   I will be posting more about 2012 soon about the other things that are supposed to happen in 2012.  Have a good one.

Movies Movies Movies...

Wow...March 11th turned out to be a horrific day for those living off of the coast of Japan.  I just want to say that first and foremost my prayers go out to those people and families that were affected by this natural disaster. Also, 3 people were swept out to sea as waters reached Crescent City and Santa Cruz around 8:44am.  I pray for those families and hope that they are doing alright.

In other news, The Smurfs seem to be making a come back as they are making a new movie about them.  You can click the link and see a trailer about the movie.  It looks more teen and tween oriented in my book but I might watch it just because I grew up watching those blue little guys.

Fast Five....New movie staring Sung Kang, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.  Yes.  They are making a fifth and what seems to be a final installment into the Fast and The Furious Saga.  All of the former drivers come together to steal one hundred million out of a police station.  Sounds good to me lots of women lots of action. Just what I like in an action movie.

There is also a new movie from the director of Kick-Ass:  X Men: First Class.  This is a movie about the original X Men and how they began back during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  I watched the preview and I was impressed.

Ok this is it for my blog today I hope that you like the movies.  You can find all of the previews by clicking Here

Time Marches On

I was so mad just now because the place that I ordered food from tried to get over on me.  There was three of us and we all was ordering out and we all ordered one liter Mountain Dews.  Well when our order arrived I paid for the meal and the guy left...with our receipt.  So I go to eat and I realize that I didn't get the right sized soda.  I call the place up and tell them that you sent the wrong sized sodas to my house.  They tell me to hold on and I hear a lot of Spanish talking in the background.  She finally comes back on the phone and asks me if I want to order more drinks.  I tell her no.  I ordered three one liter Sodas and when the delivery guy came he gave us three can sized sodas.  She told me to hold on followed by more Spanish talking.  Finally she comes back on the phone after about a minute long discussion and tells me that they only charged us for the can sodas.  I cant prove this because the delivery guy left with our receipt.  I can't believe this.  Ugh.  Remember when you could order something and when you got it, it was what you asked for?  Back in the day you could say Hey send me a Pizza with extra cheese, ham, and green peppers and that's what you got.  Now though if you Order that you might get a pizza with hamburger, olives, and extra crust.  Society needs a tune up.  I live in New Brunswick and I really feel like I live in Mexico.  There are so many spanish people here that you have to walk around with a spanish/english dictionary just to find out if your walking into a liquor store or a convenience store.  Ah well.  Time marches on...

Finding Direction

So I am trying to work on this whole blog thing.  I am trying to get better at doing it every day but so far I have failed.  I recently signed up to get The Irish Times on my RSS feed reader.  It's pretty interesting to read a lot of the stuff that the US doesn't even tell us.  I like reading the international news better than I do the American news outlets because they seem to be heavily filtered.  It's like taking Niagara Falls and putting Mount Everest on top of it.
I will never understand why people let themselves get so programmed into these gover-mental zombies.  Its like Eddie Griffin said: (And this is not a direct quote)  "I seen it on TV its true....I seen it on CNN It's gotta be true....turn your TVs off."  There is a video on the internet called Zeitgeist.  If you have any brains in your head you will watch this movie. I know what you're saying...Not everything on the internet is true.  There's more true stuff on Television than there is on the internet.  Pfffft  I'm not gonna debate that with you because we can all talk until our faces are blue. Everything is a matter of opinion, that's all I am saying.  Read the companion and check out the video.  Let me know what you think.  Comment on the blog.  I haven't really found a direction for this blog but I hope that those that are reading this will stay with me as I grow and try to find my niche. And thanks for reading.

Weirdness

So I am here at the one stop career center.  I am listening to my music and looking for a job in the hopes that I can find one.  I just watched cloverfield last night for the first time and I thought that it was a good movie.  I wonder if theree is some kind of back story behind that monster and where it came from.  I haven’t had time to do any research on the movie as of yet.  Did you know that they are coming out with a part two and a part three to Avatar?  I had a dream about the movie avatar at one point.  I dreamt that I was one of the avatar people and that I was in one of those little pods and I was getting put into a human body and I was on earth walking with the other humans.  It was weird because it actually felt like I was not a human at all and that I were looking at humans from the outsider perspective.  Anyways it was weird to be like a Navi or whatever they call themselves I forget.  I wonder if they are going to get on their ships and go to earth and see how they like it when the Navi invade their planet. HA!

What The...

So yea Here I am again. Sitting here doing nothing but looking for a job.  I thought I would just like to update this and let you know whats been going on in my life.  Not a damn thing.  I hate being in this program because I can't really talk to people like I want to.  I want to get out there and get me a girlfriend or be able to just talk to someone But shit.  I am stuck in this fucking program.  I don't know if I can curse on here but I will find out soon wont I?  So I miss all the things that come with a relationship.  Holding kissing touching loving and all that good stuff.  I miss having someone on my side.  Where I can tell them anything and they will trust in me and step up to bat for me when I am not able.  I think I am going to be single for the rest of my life.  I am ugly as sin.  UGH!!

So Lonely

So I am sitting her listening to some Atreyu  - Wait for You and I am just so lonely right now.  Ugh.  I hate that feeling.  Now Breaking Benjamin is on now Diary of Jane.  Anyways.  My life seems so unimportant to me these days. I always have to revert back to the atrocities of this rancid world that I call my own.  Many of you might try to tell me that I have it real good but I would like to be g to differ because you don't know the extent of my loneliness.  To look across the room and see so many happy faces and to not be able to share in their laughter.  I hate it.  But I must push on.  I am now trying to listen to something more up beat so I can get myself out of this funk.  I hope that I can do that though because I don't want to be sad.  I want to be happy and have someone to talk to about all my problems.  Everyone that I know is always so busy.  Anytime I need some advice I don't have anyone that I can ask so I just have to take action.  I can't just ask a friend what should I do in this situation?  Because you know what?  I send e-mails and instant messages and voice mails and what not and no response. Oh well So let me tell you about me if you are still reading though this freakin pity parade that I am taking you through.  I am 30 years old.  I lost my mother and brother in 2009 and I still have not been able to go to their graves.  They are in Alabama and I am stuck in New Jersey on Parole.  Blah.  Anyways let me get out of here. I am sure not to have many followers to my blog because I am totally not interesting at all.  SO that's it...I'm done.
